DESCRIPTION
Secure Uplink is an Ethernet line that works as any other Internet BGP uplink provided by a major upstream provider. An ISP will use it as an additional (or primary) uplink during attacks for any subnet it advertises in Internet.
Traffic flowing through this line is filtered for DDoS attacks automatically with the option configurable per IP to not do reverse proxy or similar ('layer7 protection off'). It also allows to upload certificates for HTTPS services.
To work, you either advertise a more specific prefix (e.g. /24) through this line, either you prepend or stop advertising the prefix to your regular upstream providers. We recommend to permanently advertise the high-risk prefixes (those that are frequently attacked) through this uplink.
Filters are asymmetric, which means you can send the outbound traffic through your regular upstream providers.

Secure Uplink is provided in Los Angeles, Miami, Ashburn/Reston, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Vienna or Bucharest. A cross-connect is required to physically link up ISP infrastructure with ours and cost of this datacenter-provided service is not included. The ISP must order to its datacenter a single mode fiber cross connect to one of our PoPs. The ISP location might not be exactly in the same building as ours, but most datacenters provide inter building connectivity.

All incoming traffic hitting the DDoS filters is not charged. We charge for connection port and the bandwidth we reserve for ISP to send the 'clean traffic'. A minimum 1 Gbps (connection and bandwidth) is included in this service and it can be upgraded to 2, 4, 10, 20, 40 or 100 Gbps. We recommend a 10 Gbps connection with minimum 2 Gbps reserved bandwidth for 'clean traffic'.
