Anti-DDoS Tunnel for Occasional Protection is the most economical way for an entire Network and its downstream customers to be protected against volumetric or application specific DDoS attacks that occur infrequently. It is a completely automated solution that filters the traffic only when an attack is detected. It is compatible with all edge routers supporting GRE or L2TP and gives the Network total control of which subnets are advertised through this tunnel via BGP advertisements.

Commitment

Prices do not include taxes. The price is for a full calendar month, regardless of how many days are within that month. You can request to cancel the service anytime ("no contract"), but the service will be terminated, regardless if it's used or not, in the last day of that month.

DESCRIPTION
The Anti-DDoS Tunnel is a standard GRE or L2TP tunnel established over public Internet between your edge routers and our infrastructure. Inside the tunnel, a BGP session is setup to allow you to control which prefixes will be advertised in Internet via our network. It works like any other upstream connection, but instead of a physical wire, a tunnel is used.
When an attack starts, inbound traffic is automatically captured simultaneously in all our many DDoS scrubbing centers around the globe from where it is sent through the tunnel to you. It has an option configurable per IP to not do reverse proxy or similar ('layer7 protection off'). It also allows to upload certificates for HTTPS services.
To work, you either advertise a more specific prefix (e.g. /24) through the tunnel, either you prepend or stop advertising the prefix to your regular upstream providers. We recommend to permanently advertise the high-risk prefixes (those that are frequently attacked) through tunnel.
Filters are asymmetric, which means you can send the outbound traffic through your regular upstream providers.

All incoming traffic hitting the DDoS filters is not charged. We charge for the Internet bandwidth we use to send the encapsulated 'clean traffic' over Internet using 95/5 rule, which means the highest trafficked 4.99% of all hours of every month are removed from cost.
The 'clean traffic' very rare exceeds 1 Gbps, which is the minimum bandwidth package available. Anti-DDoS Tunnel is an assymetric service which means the Network outbound traffic should be sent via Network current IP transit providers and not through this tunnel.
